How to Arrange Your Own Van Nuys Bail Bonds

February 10, 2017 Comments Off on How to Arrange Your Own Van Nuys Bail Bonds posted by: Bail Expert

If you ever find yourself in a position where you’ve been arrested and booked into the Van Nuys Jail you’ll want to contact a Van Nuys bondsman as quickly as possible. Many people express an interest in arranging their own bail bonds, as they might not want to involve friends or family members.

As a rule of thumb, defendants who own their own homes or who have good credit will be permitted to post their own Los Angeles bail bonds.

The bondsman you’re speaking with will likely come to the jail to interview you so they can get more details about where you live and the type of work you do to get a better sense of your individual situation.

Posting your own bail bonds is not difficult. When you’re released from custody you’ll need to agree to meet with the bondsman to sign your bail bonds documents. You will also need to arrange for payment of the bail bonds fee.

Felony DUI Suspect Booked at Van Nuys Jail

January 3, 2017 Comments Off on Felony DUI Suspect Booked at Van Nuys Jail posted by: Bail Expert

An unnamed suspect was booked into the Van Nuys Jail late last month on suspicion of felony drunk driving.  The suspect was taken into custody on Christmas, according to a report by Daily News, after the got into a head-on collision with another car.

Two women were hospitalized, police said, adding that they were responsive and breathing when emergency medical personnel arrived on scene.  The condition of the suspected drunk driver was not immediately known.

The suspect was arrested and booked at the Van Nuys Jail; the defendant’s bail bonds were likely set at $100,000, although that amount could be much higher due to the severity of the incident.  Felony DUI bail bonds would need to be posted in order for the defendant to be released from custody; the Van Nuys Jail does not release these types of defendants on their own recognizance.

Two Common Myths About Van Nuys Bail Bonds

December 12, 2016 Comments Off on Two Common Myths About Van Nuys Bail Bonds posted by: Bail Expert

If you’ve never been asked to help get someone out of the Van Nuys Jail before, you probably don’t have much exposure to Los Angeles bail bonds and/or how bail bonds in Van Nuys work.

There’s a lot of misinformation out there!  Below are two of the most common myths about working with a Van Nuys bondsman.

#1.  Bail bonds fees are refunded after the case is over.  This is definitely the most common myth about bail bonds, and there are a lot of attorneys, and law enforcement officials, who tell people that their bail bonds fees will be refunded.  This information is incorrect.  The bondsman’s fee is considered to be fully earned at the time the defendant is released from custody. It is not something you’ll get back in part, or in full, even if the case is dismissed or if charges are not filed.

#2.  Bail bonds fees can be negotiated.  You can’t haggle with a bondsman in the same way you negotiate with a car salesmen.  The cost to purchase bail bonds is set by the California Department of Insurance and the statewide rate has been set at 10%.

What Happens to Van Nuys Bail Bonds Fees if a Case is Dismissed?

November 2, 2016 Comments Off on What Happens to Van Nuys Bail Bonds Fees if a Case is Dismissed? posted by: Bail Expert

I was arrested and charged with domestic violence and the Van Nuys bail bonds company told me I needed $5,000 to post bail bonds. I put $2,000 down and signed up for a payment plan on the balance.  My attorney told me that my case has been dismissed because the District Attorney has declined to file charges, and that I might not have to pay the rest of the bail bonds fees.  Is this true?

Unfortunately, your attorney has been misinformed.  The fee you pay to a bail bondsman is considered to be earned in full at the time the defendant is released from jail.  You’ll still need to continue to make your monthly payments until the balance is resolved.  If you stop paying, your account will eventually be turned over to collections and this will have a negative impact on your credit score.  There is also the very real chance that the bail bonds company could take the matter to court in order to obtain a judgment, which means your paycheck could be garnished.  If you have further questions about what happens to bail bonds fees if a case is dismissed call our office today at 888-224-5266.

Arrest And Booking At The Van Nuys Jail

October 3, 2016 Comments Off on Arrest And Booking At The Van Nuys Jail posted by: Bail Expert

When someone is arrested by a member of the LAPD Valley Division, they will be taken to the Van Nuys Jail to be booked and processed into the system.  When the defendant arrives at the jail, they will be placed into a holding cell until the jailer is ready to begin processing their paperwork.

The defendant will be asked to provide their full name, date of birth, address, social security number and they will be asked what type of work they do.  From there, they will be fingerprinted and their mugshots will be taken.  The jail will also have the defendant undergo a national background screen and warrant check– this generally takes between 4 and 6 hours to complete and the Van Nuys Jail will not allow anyone to post bail bonds (or jail bonds) until the warrant check results come back.

If you need help getting someone out of the Van Nuys Jail fast, we can help.  Call our office now at 888-224-5266 to speak with a LA County bail bonds agent.

Can I Negotiate A Lower Bail Amount With The Van Nuys Jail?

June 19, 2016 Comments Off on Can I Negotiate A Lower Bail Amount With The Van Nuys Jail? posted by: Bail Expert

My wife was arrested on domestic violence charges early this morning and the Van Nuys jail is telling me her bail was set at $50,000, which I think is ridiculous.  She’s been a teacher with the school district for more than 20 years and she’s never been in trouble before.  We own are home, have great credit and she’s not a flight risk.  Can I go down there and talk to someone about getting her bail lowered?

Unfortunately, going to the jail won’t do you any good.  The only person who has the authority to raise, lower or remove bail is a judge and that wouldn’t happen until she goes to court.  You can always ask for a bail reduction at her first court appearance.  That will need to happen within three business days.  If you decide to hire a bondsman you won’t need to pay the full $50,000, you’ll instead need to pay 10%, or in this case, $5,000.  Many companies offer flexible payment plans if you’re unable to pay that full amount all at once.

Van Nuys Police Arrest Man After Armed Standoff

May 30, 2016 Comments Off on Van Nuys Police Arrest Man After Armed Standoff posted by: Bail Expert

A man who barricaded himself inside a local apartment building after he allegedly pointed a gun at some children has been taken into custody by the Van Nuys Police.

The children were hanging out in a common area of the residential building, according to a report by NBCLosAngeles.com.  At some point, they had an interaction with the now-defendant; that interaction led to the man pulling out a gun and pointing it at them.

Police were dispatched immediately.

SWAT officers and crisis negotiators were also quick to arrive on scene.  The suspect fired shots, they said.  The standoff lasted about four hours;  police believe the man was in a state of emotional distress that stemmed from a “domestic incident” that may have happened earlier in the day.

The suspect, whose name has not been made public, eventually surrendered; he was later booked at the Van Nuys Jail on unknown charges.

Van Nuys Police Arrested Suspect Accused Of Leaving 9-Month Old In Car

April 29, 2016 Comments Off on Van Nuys Police Arrested Suspect Accused Of Leaving 9-Month Old In Car posted by: Bail Expert

A man who is accused of leaving his baby in a parked car while he patronized a local strip club has been arrested by the Van Nuys Police.

The 24 year-old suspect has been identified as Auwin Dargin, according to a report by Brietbart.com; he was booked at the Van Nuys Jail on charges of felony child abuse.

He was released after posting $100,000 bail bonds.

Law enforcement officials say they were tipped off about the crime by the owner of the club, who noticed the now-defendant kept walking outside.  The manager stepped outside to see what Dargin was up to; that’s when he noticed the baby.

The man rescued the crying baby from the car; when the young father asked him to give the girl back, he declined.  At some point Dargin tried to flee from the scene (without his daughter) but he was quickly apprehended by the police.
